Sandra M. ""Sandy"'"  Nai (Broderick)
Sandra “Sandy” M. (Broderick) Nai, of Enfield, passed from her earthly life at the age of 71 on Saturday (March 24, 2012) at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She was the loving and devoted wife of 48 years to Francis “Mario” M. Nai, Sr. and daughter of the late Homer and Clarice (Garfield) Broderick. Sandy was born on Oct. 29, 1940 in Great Barrington, MA and had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years. She received her BA in Education from Westfield State and started her teaching career at St. Joseph’s School in Enfield and then at A. D. Higgins Elementary School also in Enfield and retired in 2000 from Lincoln School in Springfield, MA after 36 years of teaching. In her leisure time Sandy enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and was an avid bingo player. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Besides her husband Mario, Sandy is survived by her two sons; Francis “Fran” M. Nai, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Enfield and Michael R. Nai also of Enfield, her three beloved grandchildren; Anthony, Joseph and Stephanie Nai. She is also survived by two sisters; Wilma Darada of Great Barrington, MA and Barbara Walker of Stockbridge, MA along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother; Donald Broderick and two brothers-in-law John Darada and James Walker.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Tuesday (March 27, 2012) at 11:00 a.m. in St. Martha Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation “PFF” 811 West Evergreen Avenue, Suite 204, Chicago, IL, 60642.
