Scott M. Vining, Jr. of Enfield entered into eternal rest, at the age of 78, on Sunday August 4, 2013. Scott was the beloved husband of 57 years to Sandra (Hurlburt) Vining. He was born on January 26, 1935 in Springfield, MA son of the late Scott M. and Mary K. (Kane) Vining and had resided in Enfield for 50 years. Prior to retiring he was employed for many years with Dreikorn’s Bakery, Holyoke, MA along with various other jobs. He was a member of the Army National Guard. Scott was very active with local politics, he was a former member of the Enfield Town Council, Board of Education from 1991-1997 of which he was Chairman from 1993 – 1995 and was instrumental in founding the Enfield Tax Payer’s Association. He was an avid Red Sox and UCONN Huskies Basketball fan and also coached Enfield Little League years ago.
Besides his wife Sandra, he is survived by his four sons: Scott P. Vining & wife Janet of Broad Brook, James M. Vining & wife Anne of Enfield, Robert M.Vining of Mesa, AZ and Todd M. Vining & wife Linda of Enfield, his seven cherished grandchildren, his brother F. Thomas Vining of FL along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister; Audrey LeClerc. The Vining family would like to thank the staff of Parkway Pavilion for the exceptional and compassionate care given to Scott and all their support.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday August 8, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial and Remembrance Service at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of his family in the Hazardville Cemetery in Enfield.
