Mona Elene (Beal) Olmoz, 96, of Enfield, passed peacefully into eternal life with loved ones at her side, on Thursday (January 23, 2014) at St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield. Mona was the beloved wife of 69 years to the late Guadalupe “George” Olmoz. Born in New Milford, CT on Dec. 1, 1917, Mona was the daughter of the late Maynard and Bessie (Lane) Beal. She was a resident of Bridgeport, CT & Astoria Queens, NY until 1968 when she moved to West Haven having resided there for many years and later in Suffield, before moving to St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield. Mona was a devout catholic, who remained faithful to God. She was a former communicant of St. Paul Church, West Haven and Sacred Heart Church, Suffield and a member of the Society of the Legion of Mary. She and Guadalupe were active volunteers for many charitable organizations. Mona was a loving and devoted wife, mother to her 7 loving children, cherished grandmother and beloved great grandmother. Family was her pride and joy and her life revolved around caring for them and her home. Mona is survived by her loving children, Ramona Gaudett & her husband Patrick of Delaware, George Olmoz & his wife Lucy of N. Carolina, Peter Guadalupe Olmoz & his wife Lorie Naugatuck, CT, Mary Folger & her husband Andrew of Ellington, CT, Robert Olmoz & his fiancée Karen Docherty of W. Haven, CT and Joseph Olmoz & his wife Judy of Colchester, CT, her 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Mona was also predeceased by a son Paul Olmoz and four sisters; Peggy Tierney, Irene Baxter, Sallie Melucci and Dorothy Souza.
Relatives and friends may gather during calling hours on Friday (Jan. 31, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Residence/ Little Sisters of the Poor, 1315 Enfield St. Enfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mona at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014) in St Joseph’s Residence Chapel. Interment will then follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
