Jean Abner Alabré, 89, of Enfield entered into eternal rest on Monday (July 28, 2014) in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 37 years to the late Jeanne d’Arc (Gauthier) Alabré. Jean was born on July 19, 1925 in St. Jean du Sud, Haiti, son of the late Polverel and Yliomise Jean Baptiste Alabré. He had resided in Enfield for the past 45 years. Jean served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the period of the Korean War. Jean became a Naturalized Citizen in September 1953. He was always thankful of the opportunities that his adopted country provided him. Prior to retiring in 1990, Jean was employed for over forty years with St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT and worked 27 years for the State of CT, Department of Corrections in Somers, CT.

Jean is survived by his loving children; Pauline Campbell & husband Michael of Easthampton, MA; Louise Alabré Trumm & husband Jeff of Shavertown, PA; Daniel Alabré & wife Nicole of Mexico City, Mexico and Michele Alabré of Virginia Beach, VA; his grandchildren, Sean & Nathan Campbell, Ryan & Andrew Trumm, Samuel, Sophia & Josephine Alabré, Joshua Alabré, Natasha (Wallace) Diaz and Amanda Wallace, his six great-grandchildren, and his 5 younger siblings along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by his younger brother, Yves and sister, Simone.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, CT. Interment with military honors will take place in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery in Enfield, CT.
