Obituary for Betty C. O'Brien (Campbell)

Betty C. (Campbell) O’Brien, 91, of Enfield entered into eternal rest on Tues. July 14, 2015 at Evergreen Health Care, Stafford Springs, CT. She was the widow of Thomas A. O’Brien. Betty was born on Sept. 24, 1923 in Springfield, MA, a daughter of the late Alexander R. and Frances M. (Varley) Campbell. She was raised and educated in Suffield and later moved to Enfield. Prior to her retirement in 1985, Betty was employed with Hamilton Standard for 30years. In her leisure time she enjoyed bird watching, gardening, the beach, reading, knitting, crocheting and stamp collecting, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially on special occasions and vacations.
Betty is survived by her children; Thomas A. O’Brien, Jr. & wife Carole of Enfield, Judith Porcello & husband John of Enfield, Kathleen Wright & husband John of Arlington, VT and Stephen O’Brien & wife Margaret of Guilford, her 19 beloved grandchildren and 38 cherished great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Hazel Philips & husband Joseph of Suffield, along with many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother Donald Campbell, and two sisters Ruth Ott and Jean Ames.
Betty’s family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours on Friday July 17, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Followed by a procession to Holy Family Church 23 Simon Rd. Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will then take place in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Evergreen Health Care Resident Bazaar Fund, 205 Chestnut Hill Rd. Stafford Springs, CT 06078 or the charity of the donor's choice.
