Anna M. (Sferrazza) Fiore, 95, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Sunday September 6, 2015 surrounded by loved ones at Johnson Memorial Medical Center, Stafford Springs. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Salvatore “Sam” J. Fiore (Jan. 2005). Anna was born on August 21, 1920 to the late Salvatore and Maria (DiRosa) Sferrazza. Born in Naro, Italy she immigrated to Thompsonville, CT on Feb. 2, 1928 and became a naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1945, having resided in Enfield most of her life. She was a graduate of A.D. Higgins elementary school in 1939, and then attended Enfield H. S., she later further her education and graduated from the Hartford School of Hairdressing and was a self-employed licensed hairdresser and cosmetologist for 35 years and prior to retiring she worked in her son’s (Ralph) salon. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church for many years, and a past president of the Rinaldi-Fede Post 17 Women’s Auxiliary.
Anna is survived by her devoted and loving son Sam J. Fiore & wife Cindy of Enfield, her daughter-in-law Joan Fiore of Enfield, a granddaughter Ann Fiore, a grandson Gerald Polisky, granddaughter Lisa Brainerd & husband Larry, grandson Bryan Francis & fiancée Meghan, her beloved great grandchildren Taylor and Jacob also Connor & Bradley. She is also survived by her three sisters-in-laws Josephine Sferrazza, Giuseppine Sferrazza and Josephine Vella, also those close loved ones; Jean Fiore of Ft. Myers, FL, Mary & Leo Porcello, Ralph C. Fiore, Josie Noto, Patricia Pillitteri, Frank & Betsy Pillitteri, Carl & DonnaLee Sferrazza, Jim & Gail Viola, along with several other dear nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, her husband and son Ralph “Butch” J. Fiore (June 2005) and daughter-in-law Peggy Fiore, Anna was also predeceased by her three brothers; Rosario, Angelo and Charles Sferrazza and two sisters; Pauline Pillitteri and Antonina Viola.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Thursday September 10, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield.
Funeral services will be held on Friday September 11, 2015 with the procession forming at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. to St. Patrick Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery in Enfield.
