Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" Jones

Lawrence "Larry"  Jones
Lawrence “Larry” W. Jones, 82, of Enfield, died peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Llewelyn and Harriet (Kinsman) Jones. Larry graduated from Bucknell University with a BA in Accounting, and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He has been a resident of Enfield for fifty-seven years and was employed with the State of Connecticut as an Auditor for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2000. Larry was a former commissioner with the Planning and Zoning Board, served on the Republican Town Committee, a member of the Republican Club, and was Honorary Wrestling Coach with Fermi High. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Steelers. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Joyce (Halpin) Jones; his children, Patricia Jones and her longtime companion, Guy Tinozzi of Daytona Beach, FL, Robert Jones and his wife, Becky of Memphis, TN, and Karen Graham and her husband, Peter of Ridgefield, CT; three grandchildren, Garret Graham, Gregory Graham and Brady Jones; his brother, Llewelyn Jones and his wife, June of Mechanicsburg, PA; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Jones. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in St. Adalbert Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society.
