Raymond J. Fournier, 86, of Somers, beloved husband of Lucille S. (Poulin) for 61 years, entered into eternal peace, Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Evergreen Healthcare Center, Stafford Springs, CT. He was born July 7, 1929 in Amesbury, MA the son of the late Francois and Ann Marie (Haines) Fournier. After marrying, Raymond and Lucille moved to Scotland, CT, then to Willimantic, CT where they resided for 43 years. In 2012 they moved to Somers to be close to family. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he had been employed for 36 years with Brand Rex, Co. of Willimantic. Raymond enjoyed playing his accordion, harmonica and loved singing and dancing the “Cadrille”. He was a past member of the Willimantic, Knights of the Columbus, Elks Lodge and Franco American Club. Besides his wife Lucille, Raymond is survived by his loving family: daughter Lucie Modzelewski and husband Robert, son Donald Fournier and wife Sue, all of Enfield, daughter Lynn Smith of Warwick, RI and daughter-in-law Donna Fournier also of Enfield. He also leaves his granddaughters Ariel and Savannah Kresge, 2 brothers, 8 sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Benoit Fournier, a sister and 2 brothers. Relatives and friends may gather with Raymond’s family during calling hours on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 with the procession forming at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. to All Saints Church, Somersville, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society for non-Hodgkin Lymphoma or All Saints Church.
