Dorothy M. (Market) Koehler, 89, of Broad Brook, beloved wife of Alden G. Koehler, passed from this life, Thursday, February 25, 2016. She was born in Boston, MA December 30, 1926. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as the Accounts Payable Supervisor with the Ames Department Stores Company. Aunt Dot loved life, was fiercely independent and worked hard to never be a burden on anyone. She had a heart of gold beneath a feisty spirit and managed to leave everyone smiling after a visit. Dot began knitting hats for those in need and over the past 18 months had donated over 800 hats to various charities. A special Aunt, friend and woman, Dot is survived by her nieces and nephews, Deborah Rudolf (Martha) of Plymouth, MA, Kerrie Flanagan (Chris) of Durham, CT, Mitch Rudolf (Debbie) of Somers, CT, Dorothy Dube (Dan), Omaha, NE and John Rudolf (Nikki) of Fall River, MA. She was predeceased by her sister June Rudolf and husband Frank A. Rudolf, Sr., a nephew Francis A. Rudolf, Jr. and other brothers and sisters. Our family wishes to extend our thanks and love to all of Dot’s friends and family who have supported her, laughed at her jokes and been by her side as she fought through health issues over the past several years. Family and friends may gather during calling hours on Sunday, February 28 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home, Monday, February 29, at 11:00 am followed by interment in the Enfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Dot’s family requests that donations be made to the East Windsor Senior Center, 25 Main St, East Windsor, CT 06088.
