Joseph M.  Barone
Joseph M. Barone, 93, of Enfield passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
Joe was born in what he commonly called the French Town section of Thompsonville. He remained a lifelong resident of Enfield and was the son of Gaetano (Thomas) Barone and Guiseppina (Josephine Catania) Barone. Joe’s greatest joy was his 54 year marriage to Josephine (Fiore).
Joe served his country honorably in the U S Amy Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in England and Germany. He was a member of the America Legion. Joe was a long time parishioner at St. Patrick Church. He was employed by Bigelow Sanford for 25 years and Sage Allen Department Store for 18 years. Throughout his life, Joe was an extremely talented and accomplished artist and painted over one hundred works of art that included landscapes, seascapes, western and Native American subjects. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and the UConn Women’s Basketball. Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his son Charles S. Barone and his wife Jeanne of Enfield, his brother Thomas Barone of Enfield; his grandchildren Jessica Handly and husband Timothy, Anthony Barone and wife Serena, Melissa Garvin and husband John; great grandchildren Joseph A. Barone, Antonino C. Barone and Ceili P. Handly. He had many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his wife Josephine, his father and mother Gaetano and Guiseppina Barone, and his brothers Mateo and Matthew Barone.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Blair Manor of Enfield for the wonderful care and support provided to Joe.
Joe’s family will receive relatives and friends Saturday April 2, from 9:00-10:30 am at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. A procession from Browne Memorial Chapels will follow to St. Patrick Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
