Obituary for James Donald English

James Donald English, of Enfield, entered peacefully into Eternal Life at the age of 74, on Wednesday June 22, 2016 in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband to Linda J. (Beaudette) English. James was born on Nov. 21, 1941 in Hartford, CT to the late Robert T. and Olive M. (Therrien) English. He was a graduate of Windsor Locks H.S. Class of 1959, and then enlisted into the service, having joined the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Prior to retiring in 2005 Jim was employed for 40 years with SNET, ITT and then started his own business Echo Telecom Services. In his leisure time he enjoyed archery, golfing & most sports, he had a passion for music, playing the guitar and singing, was an avid reader and a handyman around the house and with automobiles. James was a member of St. Martha Church, the N.F.A.A. (1968 -1981) and U.S.G.A. (1980- 2005).
Besides his beloved wife of 40 years Linda, he is also survived by a sister: Karen C. English of Windsor Locks, a brother Thomas C. English & wife Cathie of Springfield, MA, along with a niece; Maryann English-Betie & husband Kevin and their children: Thomas Finn & Caitlin of Indian Orchard, MA and nephew; Glenn English & wife Ana and their daughter Eva of NYC. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by a brother; Robert J. English.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family on Tuesday June 28, 2016 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Martha Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield. Interment with military honors will then take place in the Hazardville Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street Ste. 304 Chicago, IL 60611-3201 or St. Joseph’s Residence/ Little Sisters of the Poor 1365 Enfield Street Enfield, CT 06082.
