Frank "Duke"  W.  Carllo
Frank “Duke” W. Carllo, 67, of Enfield, died peacefully at his residence on Saturday, June 25, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, Frank was the son of the late Frank and Irmgard (Schafer) Carllo. A lifelong resident of Enfield, Frank was a communicant of Holy Family Church where he volunteered in the CCD program. Frank was employed with HP Hood Ice Cream Division for forty-seven years, retiring in 2016. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 50, and VFW of North Brattleboro in Vermont. Frank was a Scout Leader for many years with Boy Scout Troop 190 in Enfield and served as a mentor with the West Springfield High School Robotics Team. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering and working with young men and women, exploring the wilderness, canoeing and backpacking. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-two years, Susan M. (Trinque) Carllo; his sons, Frank W. Carllo, Jr and his wife Theresa, of Enfield, Roger S. Carllo and his wife, Carrie of Enfield, and Brian J. Carllo and his wife, Kristin of East Longmeadow, MA; two brothers, Ronald Thompson and Frank Thompson, both of Enfield; five grandchildren, Lauren Carllo, Roger Carllo, Jr., Colin Carllo, Anna Carllo and Abby Carllo; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Katherine Greene. Family and friends will gather on Friday, July 1, 2016 by 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels for a procession to Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be held at St. Patrick King Street, Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Memorial contributions may be made to Brigham and Women’s Hospital—Biomedical Research Institute for Mesothelioma, Development Office, 116 Huntington Avenue, 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02116.
