Martha (Hurrell) McDonald, 78, of Enfield, entered peacefully into Eternal Life with loved ones at her side on Sunday Oct. 30, 2016 in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of Eugene R. McDonald. Martha was born on January 19, 1938 in Greenock, Scotland, daughter of the late James and Jane (McMeikan) Hurrell. Martha had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years. She was formerly employed for 16 years with McNanny and McCormick Printing Co. Martha was a parishioner of St. Martha Church in Enfield.
Besides her husband Eugene of 56 years, she is also survived by her loving children; Christine Reopel & Jeffrey Mesite of Windsor Locks, Heather DesRocher and husband Raymond, Jr. of Enfield, and Sean McDonald and wife Micaela of Longmeadow, MA, her six beloved grandchildren; Tyler Reopel, Brittny Zace, Samantha Zace, Grace McDonald, Nora McDonald, and Adalyn McDonald, step grandchildren; Zachary Mesite, Bailee Mesite, Lindsey Reopel and Faith DesRocher. She is also survived by a sister; Jean Fulton and husband Archibald of Greenock, Scotland, along with her three nephews; David, Archibald & Paul Fulton of Greenock, Scotland, and her church family. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by a son; James Andrew McDonald and a brother; James Hurrell. Martha’s family would especially like to thank Dr. Thumar, Doreen & staff at Johnson Memorial Cancer Center and Carol with VITAS Hospice Care.
Relatives and friends may gather with Martha’s family during calling hours on Wednesday Nov. 2, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Funeral services will take place on Thursday Nov. 3, 2016 with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Martha Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
