Condolence: I’ll always remember the great comfort Uncle Herman gave me when my mom died when I was 12 years old. I will also remember the bellyache laughs from his endless jokes when he visited Van Buren and when I visited him in Connecticut. And who can forget his yodeling everywhere he went! It also gave him great pleasure to play Santa for the neighborhood kids. He had a soft spot for all children. He was a big fuzzy teddy bear to all kids and many adults. His home was always open when I wanted to get away from the city life. He, Aunt Muriel and Matt were my home away from home whenever I visited. Every night ended in playing cards with their friends and neighbors. The laughs and fun times were endless. Uncle Herman, you lived life to the fullest every day. May you rest in blessed peace and may the memories give Aunt Muriel and Matt great comfort! I love you. Gil, Jr.

Condolence: I will always remember Uncle Herman for his humor and his humanity. When my Dad (Gil) passed away, Uncle Herman told me that my father was changed by his time in the military and Korean War. Uncle Herman's words were a real comfort to me and touched me in a way he might not have expected. Uncle Herman, you were a blessing to me. You will always live on in our memories and our hearts.

He will be greatly missed by a lot of people. RIP uncle Herman

Condolence: What a wonderful neighbor Herman was! I lived next door for 11 years and always enjoyed our talks and I always knew when Herman was outside! He always called our dog, Shadow, even though his name was Shylo and we jokingly blamed Herman for Shylo's rotund body, because he would throw all sorts of treats over the fence. Most of all I will remember Herman for his kindness and helpfulness. My thoughts are with Muriel and the family.

Condolence: My heart aches with the loss of Uncle Herman. I am so very sorry. I send my condolences to dear Aunt Muriel, Matt and the rest of the family. I have so many memories of Uncle Herman. I remember when he and Uncle Herb would travel, from Connecticut, together to visit family. Uncle Herman had so many stories and jokes to tell. I can still hear all of them laughing so loudly. Uncle Herman's big, boisterous laugh was so contagious. When he laughed, it sounded like it came all the the way from his toes. Loved that so much. I remember his dropping by St. Joseph school, in Hamlin to see some of nieces and nephews. I was in 2nd/3rd grade. He walked into the room, with his cowboy hat, boots, tall as the Eiffel Tower (to me). He picked me and one of my cousins up into his arms. I can still see the look on some of the kids' faces, and thinking to myself "this is pretty great". "This is my mon oncle". I remember so many things about him, his stories, his jokes, his yodeling. He was a good person. I hope heaven is prepared for him. He will have everyone laughing so hard, rolling on the floor. I can just see it now. I loved him.

Condolence: My Uncle Herman will always be remembered by me as larger than life, you knew when he was around. His laugh could be heard near and far and he always had a joke tucked away for us. I have so many memories of my time with him but the one that stands out the most is all those trips he would make from Connecticut to Van Buren. On a whim he drive up with my Uncle Herb for the weekend for a visit for no specific reason other to see us. It always meant lots of fun. His slide shows of family were so special and was sure to bring much laugher. The best things he ever did in life was to marry my Aunt Muriel, who is such a wonderful person and to become a Dad to Matthew whom he loved deeply. May you "Yodel" with the angels Uncle Herman!! Sending love and hugs to you, Aunt Muriel and Matthew.

Condolence: Sending love, strength and prayers to Aunt Muriel and cousin, Matthew. I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Herman's passing. It seems like only yesterday you were in Florida at my wedding. I know he had a rough year with his health, but prior to that he had a real zeal for life and a heart of gold. I know he will be waitingfor you in a better place. All of my love, Donna

Condolence: My Dad was a very special man. He always wanted to make someone laugh or smile. For me he was super man growing up. He could do anything. He had taught me many things in life but the one thing he taught me was how to be a loving person that cares about his family. He taught me this through example. He once said to me your age is the speed in which life passes by. I will forever miss you Dad. Thank you for being the best man I have ever known. I can here him saying I love you son. Love you Pops.

Condolence: My prayers are with Aunt Muriel and Matt at this time. Uncle Herman will be missed by many including myself and my siblings. I remember when we lived in Hamlin and you brought me a huge pink teddy bear and you brought Jan a Bunny Rabbit. I will always remember your yodeling and also how you loved to joke . Uncle Herman would come visit every year and he loved to take pictures. the following year when you came he would bring his slide projector and you would show us the pictures. That was so much fun and very entertaining ! The cowboy hat and the curly mustache. I think your handlebars were always longer than my Dads', even though they both had quite a curl!!!

Condolence: When I was little I use to look up and I saw this 10 Ft giant. I will always remember how you use to curl your mustache, And how we knew when you have arrived by your yoddle (I LOVE THE OLD LADY TOO). See I remember what you told me about yodeling .. I know my dad is very heart broken about you being gone.. And my heart goes out to Aunt Muriel and Mat. So I end this with this wonderful Psalm..The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. RIP UNCLE HERMAN
