Obituary for Mary Jane Witkos

Mary Jane Witkos, of Enfield, entered into eternal life, at the age of 80, on Tuesday Dec. 20, 2016. She was born on December 4, 1936 in Peabody, MA daughter of the late John and Jane (Michalowski) Witkos and had resided in Enfield for the past 37 years and in Hartford before that. Mary Jane was a graduate of Our Lady of the Angels Academy and then continued her education at Fordham University, University of Notre Dame where she received her MBA in accounting and the University of Hartford receiving her MBA in education. With her love for children and teaching, she was an elementary school teacher in several schools in NY, and MA as well as a substitute teacher at St. Adalbert School, Enfield, and was a supervisor in the business office at St. Francis Hospital for many years before retiring in 2005. Mary Jane was an avid NY Yankees fan.
She is survived by a sister, Theresa Potorski of Peabody, MA, a brother Daniel Witkos of Granby, CT, several nieces and nephews, and her best friend Marie Iagrosso of Enfield. She had so many dear friends, including Sister Carol Saladin and her sister Barbara Saladin, the Maker family, the Cappiello’s, and important little ones Leah, Justin, Aubree & her mother Julie, and her dear Godchild Elizabeth.
Relatives and friends may gather during calling hours on Monday Dec. 26, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday Dec. 27, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Chapels 1315 Enfield St. Enfield. Interment will take place in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Enfield Montessori School 1325 Enfield St. Enfield, CT 06082 or the Felician Sisters Retirement Fund 1315 Enfield St. Enfield, CT 06082.
