Obituary for Ann L. Wilcox (Morgan)

Ann L. (Morgan) Wilcox, of Portland, ME and formerly of Avon, CT, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday Dec. 21, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin J. Wilcox. Ann was born on Jan. 4, 1925 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Buckley) Morgan.
She had resided in Avon, CT before moving to Maine in 1990 and came back to the local area in 2013. Prior to retiring many years ago, Ann was employed as a social worker, with Tri County Health in Maine and in CT before that. Ann was a foster grandparent while living in Maine. She was a member of the Guild for Spiritual Guidance, Friends of Silence and a former member of St. Ann’s Church in Avon.
In her leisure time Ann enjoyed reading, had an interest in politics, a thirst for knowledge and time spent with family and friends.
Ann is survived by her two loving daughters, Mary Ann Nelson & husband Paul of Avon, CT and Fran Gracewski & husband Paul of Enfield, her six beloved grandchildren, Monica Morneau (Jason), Vincent Stetson (Kelly), Adam Stetson, Andrew Stetson (Becca), Emily Gracewski, and Paul E. Gracewski, her cherished great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Connor, Colin, Owen and Aubrey, along with her special friends in ME, Enez & her family. Ann was predeceased by a son Benjamin J. Wilcox, Jr. Her family would especially like to thank the staff at Evergreen Health Care Center for the kind, compassionate and loving care given to Ann.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Thursday Dec. 29, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Funeral services will take place on Friday Dec. 30, 2016 with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to Holy Family Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter 200 Executive Blvd. Southington, CT 06489.
