Obituary for J. Paul Barry

J. Paul   Barry
J. Paul Barry, 87, of Holyoke, MA, and formerly of Enfield, CT, entered into eternal rest on Friday April 14, 2017 at Baystate Medical Ctr. Springfield, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late H. Patricia (Parker) Barry who passed away in 2015. Paul was born on Oct. 11, 1929 to the late Jeremiah F. and Helen I. (Casey) Barry. He grew up in Chicopee, MA, resided in Enfield for 50 years and, for the past year, lived in Holyoke, MA. He was a graduate of Cathedral H.S. and attended American International College, Springfield, MA. He was a member of the US Air Force and Air National Guard. Prior to retiring, Paul was employed with the Springfield Newspapers for 20 years and with Main St. Management Co. Paul was a longtime active member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1525. He was an avid skier, golfer and was a youth hockey referee. He and his wife spent many years during their retirement traveling throughout the United States, exploring historic sites, visiting family and friends and making new friends along the way. Paul was famous for his backyard barbecues and for organizing block parties with his Haynes St. neighbors. He was best known for his sense of humor which he used as a means of letting people know they were cared for and special.
Paul is survived by his children; Cathy Vacchelli & husband Hon. Robert Vacchelli of CT, Lynda Kinnane & husband Dr. Thomas Kaluzynski of NC, Patricia Robinson of MA and Christopher Kinnane & wife Constance Wannamaker of TX, his six grandchildren: Brandon Vacchelli, Andrew & Clare Kaluzynski, Carly & Lauren Robinson and Benjamin Kinnane. He is also survived by his siblings: Margaret Scagliarini, James Barry, Marion Caproni & husband Joseph all of MA, brother-in-law; Kenneth Parker & wife Phyllis and sister-in-law; Linda Parker all of RI, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Francis Barry.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family on Wednesday April 19, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service with Pastor Barry Andrusik officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Felician Adult Day Care, Inc., 1333 Enfield Street Enfield, CT 06082.
