Obituary for Deborah B. Gardner (Buiniskas)

Deborah “Debbie” (Buiniskas) Gardner, 65, of Somers, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday May 23, 2017 surrounded by her family. The beloved wife of William V. Gardner for 44 years, Debbie was born in Springfield, MA to Maria (Alaimo) Buiniskas and the late Raymond Buiniskas. She grew up in Enfield and lived in Somers for the past 35 years. A graduate of Our Lady of The Angels High School, she received her bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Hartford. Debbie retired from CB Richard Ellis as Director of the Executive Conference Center at Travelers Insurance.
Debbie loved the beach, reading, traveling, gardening, and was an avid animal lover. Many stray cats found their home with Debbie.
In addition to her husband Billy and mother Maria, Debbie is also survived by her two sons: Sean Gardner of Vernon, and Scott Gardner of Somers; her beloved baby sister, Nancy Shanahan & husband Joseph of Wakefield, RI; nieces & nephews: Maria, Alexa, Brendan, Brett, Bridgette, and Christopher; along with numerous cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, David Buiniskas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bernard Church 426 Hazard Ave. Enfield. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Debbie to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
