Audrey (Ryan) Meara, 76, of Enfield, Connecticut, died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at her home. Born in Blackpool, United Kingdom, Audrey was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Smith) Ryan. Audrey had resided in Enfield for fourteen years and previously resided in Massachusetts and New York. She had retired from Stop and Shop and was previously employed by Steigers Department Store. For Audrey family came first and she enjoyed sharing stories about her life and favorite past times. In her leisure time, she enjoyed shopping, reading and cooking. Audrey’s heritage was very important to her. She and her husband, James enjoyed frequent travel to the United Kingdom and Ireland. She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-six years, James K. Meara; her son, Paul K. Meara and his wife, Olya of Holyoke, MA; her grandchildren, Amanda Veilleux-Meara, William Jorgensen, Kevin Meara and Evan Meara; her sister, Christine Jackson of Bradford, U.K., and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Christine S. (Meara) Jorgensen and thirteen siblings. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
