Iva N. Willis, 94, of Enfield, wife of 76 years to Robert E. “Bob” Willis, Sr. passed away Thursday, Thursday August 24, 2017. Iva was born in Brockton, MA on Oct. 9, 1922, to the late John and Marjorie McFarlan of Brockton, MA. She attended nursing school at McClean Hospital in MA. Iva lived in East Hartford for 49 years and moved to Enfield in 1997, Along with her husband Robert, Iva is survived by her son Robert E Willis, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Marlow, New Hampshire, two grandsons John Hurst and his wife Lucy of New Zealand, and Shawn Willis, Sr. of Coventry, CT, two great-grandsons Blake Hurst of New Zealand and Shawn Willis of Coventry, a special nephew Douglas McFarlan of Abington, MA, a special niece Beverly Willis of Brockton, MA and several close friends who cared for Iva for the last few years. Iva was also predeceased by her daughter Marjorie Anne Willis and her husband Larry Hurst.
Iva had a love for playing Bingo for many years, which was held at the Enfield Community Center She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. After Bob retired he and Iva enjoyed square dancing, and they spent winters in Florida where they made and enjoyed many wonderful friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield, CT on Wednesday August 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will then take place in the Hazardville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Suffield House, c/o the Recreational Fund 1 Canal Rd. Suffield, Rd. Suffield, CT 06078, where she received wonderful care from all the staff.
