Obituary for Kathleen Aneshensel (Carrigan)

Kathleen (Carrigan) Aneshensel, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest at the age of 76 on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 with loved ones at her side. Kathleen was born on April 29, 1941 in Hartford, CT, to the late Francis and Leona (Mroz) Carrigan. She had resided in Enfield for the past 20 years and in Glastonbury before that. She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Enfield, Ct. Kathleen retired after 30 years with Aetna and with Filenes Department Store for 10 years.
Kathleen is survived by her sister Linda and her husband Joseph Wolodko of Enfield her three loving nieces; Jill Wolodko , Michelle and her husband Craig Bean all of Enfield, and Jolyn and her husband James Manafort and their children Madelyn & James, of Farmington. Kathleen was predeceased by her loving husband Tom and her son David.
Kathleen loved animals, especially her poodle Mitzie, who she sadly leaves behind. She loved antiques and enjoyed collecting them for years. Kathy also loved sailing and flying to Nantucket to the home she and her husband built there. She had many friends throughout the years, especially her oldest and dearest friend, Marie Philips and her two special friends, Shirley Reynolds and Adele Seay. All three helped her through her long struggle with her illness. Kathy was also very thankful for the outpouring support she received from Dr. Tara Sanft, Karen Pollard Murphy and the staff at Smilow Cancer Center, New Haven and all the visiting nurses from Masonic Care.
Kathleen’s family will receive friends on Wednesday Oct. 18, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield, CT. A Christian Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday Oct. 19, 2017 in Holy Family Church , 23 Simon Rd. Enfield, CT (Please meet at church). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to Closer to Free C/O Yale Cancer Center, 333 Cedar St. New Haven, CT 06510.
