Obituary for Anthony "Tony" S. Secondo

Anthony “Tony” S. Secondo, 86, of Enfield, beloved husband of Patricia (Brouillette) Secondo, entered into eternal life on Sunday Oct. 29, 2017. Tony was born in Enfield June 7 1931 the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Arnone) Secondo and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. He was a graduate of Enfield High School where he was the class president and captain of both the baseball and football teams and was the organizer of all the class of 1949 reunions. He attended AIC, Springfield, MA. Tony served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After 47 years of service, Tony retired in 1994 from Friendly Ice Cream Corp., as Coordinator of Distribution. He was a parishioner and head usher at St. Bernard Church, Hazardville.
Tony was extremely active in the community, the historical society, veterans’ organizations. He was proud of Enfield history and his military service. His community involvement included: Friendly Ice Cream Retirement Group; Past-President and fellow of the Enfield Historical Society; as part of the society he was on the Wallop School, the Hazardville Institute, Old Town Hall Museum, Heritage Day and Martha Parsons House Committees; Chairperson for the Town of Enfield Bicentennial and Enfield’s 300th Anniversary Committee; he contributed to the Challenge of Change -Enfield History Book, Past Commander of the John Maciolek Post 154, American Legion, Enfield and was on the Ambulance Committee. Tony was a member of the Mt. Carmel Society, Enfield, was on the Board of Directors of the Enfield Detection of Thieves & Robbers Society, the former Purple Heart Committee and member of the nominating committee of the Enfield Athletic Sports Hall of Fame, as well as a member of the Hall of Fame with the Enfield High Class of 1949 Football Team and contributor of a display of sleigh & buggies at Noden Reed Farm in Windsor Locks. He was recipient of the Veteran’s Patriot Award. Tony volunteered for the American Red Cross for many years and was a multiple-gallon blood donor.
In addition to his wife, Pat of 65 years, Tony is also survived by his two loving daughters; Leah Secondo of Bradenton, FL and Marci Kinnin & husband Bruce, grandson Todd Kinnin and wife Ashley all of Enfield, his granddaughter, Laura Kinnin & Kamani Stubbs of Tolland, CT, his brother Louis & wife Barbara of Longmeadow, MA, his in-laws; Wayne & Cecille King, Regina Ellis and Myron Marek along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings; Rose Marek, Joseph, Achille, Frank, Thomas and Mary Landes.
Tony’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday Nov. 1, 2017 from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Nov. 2, 2017 with the procession form at 9 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Bernard’s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
