Rita L. (Laviolette) Cook, passed on to eternal rest, at the age of 94, on Friday Nov. 3, 2017 at The Suffield House, Suffield, CT. She was the loving wife of 59 years to the Vernon A. Cook. Rita was born in Bare, VT, July 10, 1923, daughter of the late Oscar and Aurore (Lalande) Laviolette and had resided in Enfield for 55 years, and recently in Suffield. She was an avid craftsman making many knitted & crocheted items which she generously shared with family, friends and charities. She loved watching the UCONN Huskies basketball games and the Enfield Senior Center was her second home. Rita was active on a daily basis in her community and prided herself on her independence in living in her own home and managing her affairs into her later years. Her enthusiasm & zest for life & great humor will be a lasting memory.
She leaves her daughter Joyce Barber & partner John Prajzner of Enfield and her son Robert of CA, her five grandchildren Jason, Adam, David, Renee and Shannon, her seven great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Sarah, Dylan, Nathan, Zachary, Jordan and Brody. Besides her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by a son Douglas Cook, her brothers Rolland, Fernand, & Roger Laviolette, her sisters Alice Lorenz, Hermine Rosbach, Mary Lovely & Jean Lagus.
The family would especially like to thank dear friends John & Rita Langlois for all their help and support.
Services for Rita will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Enfield, Senior Center, 299 Elm Street Enfield, CT 06082.
