Obituary for Frances Marie "Fran" Sowuleski (Waiwat)

Frances Marie "Fran" Sowuleski (Waiwat)
Frances Marie (Waiwat) Sowuleski, 95, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Life, on Friday Dec. 15, 2017 at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare Center in Enfield. She was the beloved wife of 20 years to Walter V. Sowuleski who passed away in 1967. Frances, the youngest child of Lithuanian immigrants, Frank and Agnes (Laban) Waiwat, was born on November 13, 1922 in Westfield, MA. She graduated at the age of 16 in the Westfield H.S. Class of 1939. Residing in Enfield for several years. she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Peggi and Tom Connor for seven years before moving to Parkway in 2014. With her warm personality Frances made many new friends. Her deep devotion to the rosary drew people to ask her to pray for them. She was delighted to hear about the blessings they received. Frances was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Before retiring Fran was employed for several years at Hamilton Standard as an Executive Secretary. She also did bookkeeping from her home for construction firms in order to be there for her children. In her limited spare-time she enjoyed sewing and gardening. A widow at 44, she unselfishly made the care of her family her life’s work.
Fran is survived by her three children; Margaret “Peggi” Connor & husband Thomas of Enfield, Vincent Sowuleski & wife Kathleen of Little Silver, NJ, and Christine Sowuleski-Gillen of Suffield, her grandchildren; Brett Connor & wife Anna of Hampden, MA, Alexis Royston & husband Andrew of Beverly Hills, CA and Dylan Connor of Glendale, CA and a great-grandson Cade Connor of Hampden, MA. She also leaves her dear nephew Walter and loving nieces Ginger, Patty and Louise. She was predeceased by a daughter Dorothy Gould, two brothers George and William Waiwat and a sister Mary McCreery. The family extends a special thank you for the loving care provided at Parkway by nurses Becky, Devonne and Marley; Dawn, Fran’s special aide, Diane and the recreation staff and the compassionate Masonicare Hospice group.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield to St. Adalbert Church at 90 Alden Ave. Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield, MA.
