Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Marilyn Barber can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Marilyn A. (Mathews) Barber, 90, of Enfield, CT entered into eternal rest on Saturday April 14, 2018. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to the late Phil J. Barber. Marilyn was born on November 27, 1927 in Elmira, NY to the late Mariner Samuel and Ann (Ross) Mathews. She had recently moved to Enfield from Tampa, FL where she resided for 7 years and in New Smyrna Beach, FL for many years. Marilyn received her nursing degree from Arnot Ogden School of Nursing. Prior to retiring she was employed with Birchwood Manor in Chicopee, MA and with Mattapoisett Nursing Home prior to that. In her leisure time Marilyn enjoyed golfing sewing, knitting, bowling and traveling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her three children; Jacquelyn (Barber) Haggar & husband Thomas of Land O’Lakes, FL, Cynthia (Barber) Edwards & husband Kerry of Enfield, CT and Philip Barber & wife Laura of Cape May Court House, NJ, her five beloved grandchildren, twelve cherished great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Marilyn Moore of NY, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by two sisters Lois Girardi and Florence Bowes.
Friends may gather with her family on Saturday April 21, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at 1:30 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels Enfield, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in New York. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd. Ste. 4B Southington, CT 06489.
