Obituary for Josephine V. Etkin

Josephine (Viola) Etkin 78 of Enfield entered into eternal life on Thursday November 16, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital Hartford. Josephine was born in Enfield the daughter of the late Stefano and Antoinette (Sferrazza) Viola and resided here all her life. Josephine graduated salutatorian from Enfield High School Class of 1946. She was formerly employed in administrative work and as an executive assistant. Josephine was formerly employed by the office of the Hartford Mayor, and retired in 1968. She was a member of the Enfield Democratic Town Committee for many years. Josephine loved music, art, poetry, reading and writing. Above all her family was the most important part of her life. Josephine is survived by her beloved husband of fifty one years Lloyd "Louie” Etkin also her loving family a son Vinny Scicolone and his wife Lynda of Springfield MA., a daughter Lisa M. Etkin of Enfield., and a daughter Lynne E. Turin and husband Robert of W.Hartford., also a granddaughter Rebecca Ann Olesen, and three great grandchildren. Josephine also leaves a sister Mary Jo Marion of Enfield, a brother and sister in-law James S. and Gail Viola of Enfield, a sister and brother in-law Sylvia and Glenn Yeargers of Suffield, a brother Joseph A. Viola of Wethersfield CT.She is also survived her aunt Anne Fiore of Enfield and uncle Charles Sferraza of Enfield and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery Agawam MA. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
