Obituary for Thomas J. Quail, Jr.

Thomas J. Quail, Jr., 77, of Stafford Springs and Enfield passed from this life into eternal rest on Thursday March 20, 2008 at his home with loved ones by his side. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Gertrude "Trudy" A. (Fitch) Quail. Thomas was born on March 17, 1931 in Pittsfield, MA a son of the late Thomas J. Sr. and Dorothy (Cullet) Quail and resided in Stafford Springs for the last 8 years, in Enfield since 1955 and Hinsdale, MA before that. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. A Proud retired Teamster of Local 559. Tom was employed by Springfield Sugar & Products, Finast and Super Value as a truck driver for many years. He was first employed with Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. Tom was an a Red Sox and boxing fan, enjoyed bowling and playing cards having been a member of the Card Club, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Besides his loving wife, Trudy he is survived by his six children, Thomas J. Quail, III and his wife, Kathleen of Enfield, Theresa J. Quail of Plainfield, Linda L. Quail of Enfield, Timothy J. Quail of Sterling, Joel C. Quail and his wife, Maryann of Enfield, and Kathy M. Quail of Ware, MA, his 20 beloved grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his six brothers and sisters, Charles Carver of NY, Rosemary Carver, Richard Quail and his wife Judy, David Quail and his wife, Shirley all of Hindsdale, MA, Barbara Godwin of LA, and Bonnie Caffareli and her husband, David of Pittsfield, MA, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Marsha Mozacco.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Thomas's life will take place on Tuesday evening March 25, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. His family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Home & Community Health Services Hospice Program P.O. Box 1199 Enfield, CT 06083-1199.
