Lorene Georgia  Verny
Lorene Georgia (Hough) Verny, 65, beloved wife of forty five years to Calvin Verny passed into eternal rest on Sunday March 15, 2009 at home after a brief illness. Lorene was born in Flushing, N.Y. September 17, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Hough and her step father the late James M. Hough and her mother the late Selma (Kaiser) Hough. Lorene was a 1965 graduate of S.U.N.Y Oswego. She was formerly employed as a history teacher at Oswego High School and later employed as a receptionist at Becon Inc of South Windsor Ct from 1989 to 1998. Besides her husband Cal she is survived by a son and daughter in-law Michael Thomas and Kristina Verny of Stafford Springs, CT., a daughter and son in-law Kelly Ann and Mathew Mormino of Windsor, CT., a daughter and son in-law Roberta Lynn and Mark Skaggs of Louisville, KY., and a daughter Terri Jean Verny –Rasmussen and her husband James of Oswego, NY. She was also Nana to Meridith, Daniel, Devin, Sean, Calvin, Bryce, Nathan, Elijah, Mathew and Grace. She had two great grandchildren. Lorene also leaves her sister and brother in-law, Patricia and Thomas Burke of Boulder City, NV., her sister and brother in-law Peggy and Richard Columbia of Huntington Station, N.Y,. To her family and friends she was our cheerleader, counselor, financial advisor, sounding board, and confidant. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be sorely missed but will live on in the lives of those she touched. Lorene's family will receive relatives and friends at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield Ct on Tuesday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with a memorial service at 8:00PM Burial will be at the Convenience of the family in South Scriba Cemetery Scriba, New York. Memorials in her memory may be made to the Lea Foundation for Leukemia Research at 150 Trumbull Street 2nd Floor, Hartford, Ct., 06103.
