Obituary for Paul A. Nabors, Sr.

Paul A.  Nabors, Sr.
Paul A. Nabors, Sr. 71, of Port Charlotte, FL and formerly of Enfield, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday Oct. 7, 2009, surrounded by loved ones. Paul was the beloved husband of Dianne (Ceberek) Nabors and son of the late Robert and Gladys (Coons) Nabors. He served with the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division. Prior to retiring in 1997, Paul was employed with Springfield Sugar, for over 30 years.
He was a Past Master of Morning Star Lodge #28, now Composite Lodge # 28, Suffield, member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Melha Shriners, Springfield, MA. He was also a former Fire Commissioner of Thompsonville Fire Dept., member of Enfield Planning & Zoning, Chairman of Enfield Zoning Board of Appeals, a member of the Enfield Republican Town Committee, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1525 and Lifetime member of the AMVETS Post 18, Enfield. Living the life of leisure Paul enjoyed boating & fishing on Charlotte Harbor with his wife, Friday night dinners with the Florida group, woodworking, visiting the "Motherland", (Mohegans) and was an avid Red Sox fan. Besides his wife of 49 yrs. Dianne, Paul was a devoted father to Paul & Pamela Nabors, of Enfield, Patricia Nabors also of Enfield and Kenneth & Mary Nabors of Chicopee, MA., He adored and was very proud of his granddaughters, Jenn and Rachel Nabors and was beloved "Pop-Pop", to Matthew Nabors and step-grandfather to Rikky and Maggie Walsh. He also had many happy times with his grand dogs, Cooper, Pepper and Wolfie. Paul is also survived by his sisters, Jacqueline Henriques of Orlando, FL and Nancy Dikovsky of Shelton, CT along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Rebecca Nabors, his brothers, Robert, John and Richard, his sisters, Ilean Becker and Betty Jane Swope.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Sunday Oct. 11, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. a Masonic Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Monday Oct. 12, with the procession forming at 9:30 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels to St. Bernard's Church, Enfield for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed by military honors.
