Francis L. "Mike" Young, of Enfield, entered into eternal life at the age of 78, with loved ones at his side on Wednesday (April 13, 2011) at Johnson Memorial Medical Ctr. in Stafford Springs. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Ambrosini) Young and son of the late John and Lucy (Longworth) Young. Francis was born on Feb. 2, 1933 in Hartford, CT and a longtime resident of Enfield.
He served his country honorably with the US Army during the Korean War, upon discharge he transferred to the Army Reserve for several years. Francis was employed for 35 years with Stanadyne Inc. until his retirement in 1998. He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post 18, Enfield and a member of Holy Family Church, Enfield.
Along with his beloved wife Frances he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Darcy & Rick Starzyk and a son, Albert Young, his three beloved grandsons; Ricky, Alex and Tyler, his brother and sister-in-law; William & Doris Young of Orlando, FL and his sister; Mary Gowdy of Enfield, three sisters-in-law; Catherine, Patricia and Pauline Young, along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law; Marie Ambrosini of Enfield and a sister-in-law and her husband; Lillian & Tony Troiano of Enfield. He was predeceased by a daughter in 2001 Marie Young and a grandson in 2002 Ryan Young along with two sisters and spouses; Rita & John Martin and Eleanor & Sam White, his brothers; John & Rose Young, James & Margaret Young, Joseph Young, Al & Mary Young, Edward Young and Owen Young.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Sunday (April 17, 2011) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Monday (April 18) with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to Holy Family Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
