Bernice V. "Billie"  Egan (Smith)
Bernice “Billie” V. (Smith) Egan, 92, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Egan, Sr., died peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Bickford Healthcare Center in Windsor Locks. Born on March 18, 1919 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Bernice was the daughter of the late Henry and Eleanor (Morrison) Smith. Billie has been a longtime resident of Enfield and a communicant of Holy Family Church. She was a member of Enfield Senior Center with the Heritage Group where she made and donated many craft items for their fairs. Billie was employed as a seamstress for many years with the former Rainbow Girl Coat Company in Springfield. She is survived by her loving son, Joseph Egan of Enfield; her brother, Richard Smith of Florida; a sister, Eleanor Baker of Florida; sister-in-law, Phyllis Hough of Suffield, and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25, 2011 beginning at 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082, followed by a procession to Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 538 Preston Avenue, P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
