Gerry Levasseur, of Broad Brook, formerly of Enfield, CT, beloved husband of Beatrice (Garand) Levasseur, passed away on April 21, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born on April 12, 1935 in Fall River, MA to the late Albert and Yvonne (Thibault) Levasseur.
Gerry proudly served his county with the US Air Force during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service in 1959, he returned to school, earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Durfee Tech and Master’s Degree in Education from Springfield College. He began his career in the Claims Department at The Hartford Insurance Group, later retiring from Cigna Corporation as a Rehabilitation Counselor.
Upon retiring, he and his wife sang with multiple groups, including the Gold Tunes, Enfield Community Chorus and the Holy Family Church Choir. He looked forward to his travels with Bea to the Caribbean Islands, Europe and Hawaii.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by their three sons and daughters-in-law; Richard and Cheryl of Springfield, MA, Robert and JoAnn of Exeter, NH, and Thomas and Melissa of Enfield, CT, ten grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Gerry was preceded in death by his grandson Robert Levasseur.
His family will receive friends and relatives at the Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish) 23 Simon Rd. Enfield, CT on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 10:00 am. Please meet at the church. Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of family in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield.
