Obituary for Adele Beck (Foley)

Adele Foley Beck, age 76, passed away on September 12, 2023 peacefully at her home after a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer. Adele was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 14, 1947, to the late Daniel and Mary Ruth (Sullivan) Foley. She attended Girls Latin High School before moving on and graduating with a degree in Education from Simmons College in Boston. After a brief period of living in Washington, D.C., Adele moved to Williston, Vermont and started working at Bolton Valley Ski Resort. While there, she met her husband Walter, a native Vermonter, on a blind date. Sparks flew on that first date and just a few short months later, they joined in the union of marriage at the Holy Name Church in West Roxbury, Massachusetts in November of 1971. Walter and Adele made their first home in Essex Junction, Vermont before life brought them to Connecticut in 1976, where they still reside today. After raising her family (with Walt) Adele embarked on another endeavor, as a Paraprofessional working in Special Education with elementary school children in the Enfield, Connecticut Public School Systems, where she truly enjoyed teaching and interacting with her students every day. Adele is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter Bruno Beck, of West Suffield, Connecticut; her three loving daughters, Lauren (Robin) Forte of Keller, Texas; Kara (Brad) Howard of Warren, Vermont; and Marla (Tracey) Hedworth of Geneva, New York; and her two loving grandchildren, Addison and Colin Forte. The second oldest of ten siblings, Adele is also survived by her siblings, Patrica Foley; Maureen (the late Arthur) Forziati; Bernadette (Phillip) Faulkner; Theresa (companion Irving) Foley; Mark (companion Linda) Foley; Douglas (Dianne) Foley; Joseph Foley and predeceased by Daniel Foley and Audrey Handren. In addition, she is survived by so many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and the beloved dogs and animals in her life. Funeral services for Adele will be private. If you would like to make a donation, memorial donations can be made in her name to Suffield Community Aid, 450 South Street, Suffield Connecticut 06078. The family would like to thank all the dedicated nurses and physicians at St. Francis Hospital Oncology Unit, and the wonderful and caring nurses of Harford HealthCare at Home Hospice.
