Obituary for Alan Silver

Alan Silver of Enfield passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021 at the age of 88. He was born in New Bedford, MA on January 1,1933 to Peter and Dorothy (Feingold) Silver. He grew up in Brockton, MA in a loving household with his four siblings – Ronald, Carol, Franklin and Gerald.
Alan attended Brockton public schools and Burdett Business College in Boston.
He is survived by his loving partner of 27 years, Terry Frogameni; his loving children - Linda Silver DiPietro and her husband Michael DiPietro, Debra Silver Howe and her husband Richard Howe, and Larry Silver. He is also survived by his grandchildren – Lindsey Howe Chinni and her husband Joseph Chinni, Sarah Howe and her husband Zachary Delpier, Jared DiPietro, as well as, his great-grandson Miles Chinni, Also, he is survived by his brother, Gerald “Jerry” Silver, his companion Terry's daughter, Annmarie Martin and her son, Vincent Martin, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is pre-deceased by his sister Carol Silver Chasalow, brothers - Ronald Silver and Franklin Silver, and his former wife and mother of his children - Lila (Frank) Silver.
Alan was the owner of Closeouts Unlimited a discount store and fixture in Roslindale (MA) Square for many years, He had stores in Fall River, MA and Portland, ME as well. Alan took an active role in many civic, business and charitable activities. He was Past President of the Boston Board of Trade and Adams Park Development, Chairman of Kiddy Kamp in Massachusetts and Past President of the Dartmoor Condominium Association. He was on the Board of Directors and a volunteer at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, CT. Alan and Terry actively supported and donated to the Hospital to build the EMS Break Room, provide facility upgrades to the Evergreen Health Center and started a scholarship for Hospital Teen Volunteers.
He enjoyed playing poker, and was a voracious reader of mystery and detective novels. A recent favorite of his was “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens. He enjoyed and recommended this book. Alan loved spending time in Jupiter Florida in the winter with Terry. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
