Obituary for Arlene Marie Kinnin (Brown)

Arlene Marie (Brown) Kinnin of Enfield, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Arlene (Meme and Mims to everyone who knew her) was born on May 5, 1923 in Amsterdam, NY to Burton and Marie Brown, and was one of six children. Arlene married Isaac Kinnin on March 29, 1941. They lived in Hagaman and Amsterdam, NY until 1963 when they moved to Enfield. Arlene worked in several local grocery stores including Shaker Pines Market in Enfield and Geissler’s Supermarket in Warehouse Point. Following their retirement, Ike and Arlene moved to Lake Placid, FL for a few years before she returned to Enfield.
Arlene is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ike, and her son, Robert, (Bobby as she usually called him) and son-in-law, Dave McClure. Her children and grandchildren will hold on to great memories of family vacations with Meme, playing cards and games, visits to her home in Florida, her chocolate jumbo cookies, her always perfectly manicured nails, pink mint candies and her constant presence and enjoyment of simple family get-togethers. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara McClure, with whom she made her home, her son, Bruce (Marci) of Enfield, and daughter-in-law, Susan Kinnin of Fairhope, AL and North Windham, CT; her grandchildren David (Tracie) McClure of Enfield, Kevin (Wendy) McClure of Somers, Mark McClure of Jacksonville, FL; Laura Kinnin and Kamani Stubbs of Gilbert, AZ and Todd (Ashley) Kinnin of Enfield; Marcy Maulucci-Bragdon (Damion) of Spanish Fort, AL and Amanda (Michael) Heath of Tolland. She also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. The family would like to thank Louisette and Ginny, her long-time aids, who became her friends.
Calling hours will be at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road in Enfield on Friday, February 4, from 4:00-6:00pm, followed by a brief service. Burial will be in Hagaman, NY, in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Arlene’s memory to The Macie Grace Foundation at 127 Hamden Road, Somers, CT 06071, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
