Obituary for Barbara Ann Therrien (Nadeau)

Barbara (Nadeau) Therrien, 78, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024. She was born on April 7, 1945 in Hartford, CT. She grew up in East Hartford, CT, with her mom, stepfather, and brother and sisters. She attended East Hartford High School. She is the daughter of the late Edwin Nadeau and Emily (Beaulieu) Gadbois, as well as her beloved stepfather who raised her, Thomas Gadbois. She is also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Janet (Nadeau) and William Surrells.
Barbara is survived by her siblings, Donald Nadeau and his wife Sheila, Sylvia Kaufmann, Edwin Nadeau and his wife Pat, and Claire Nadeau Hebert. She also leaves behind her children, Deborah Keegan and husband, Joseph, of Enfield, CT; Donna Spivey and husband, Bart, of Parrish, FL; grandchildren, Sean Keegan and wife, Nicole, of Easthampton, MA; Amanda Logan and husband, Louis, of Peabody, MA; Joshua Keegan and partner, Mitch, of West Hartford, CT; Randall Dennis of Palmetto, FL; and her sweet great-grandchild, Darci Dennis.
She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young, staying active and volunteering in their school and social activities. Later, she worked for J.C. Penney, moving on eventually to a rewarding career at Kaman Aerospace in Bloomfield, CT as a procurement technician. She loved her job and delayed retiring until age 70.
Family and friends meant everything to Barbara, always welcoming them with an open heart. She was a loving and devoted sister. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she adored and spent much time with. She enjoyed learning new things, especially staying current with new technology, often having her grandchildren teach her how to use her many tech gadgets. She loved to stay connected through Face-time, text and messaging with her grandchildren and her great-grandchild. She loved entertaining and having people in her home, often hosting dinner or cards with friends. She shared a love of Hallmark movies with her brother, often watching at the same time, long-distance. She doted on her cat, Mooshie, easily the most spoiled cat in the world, adopted from her sister. Much of her time was spent with her daughter, Debbie, and her son-in-law, who lived nearby. They were often inseparable, sharing the same interests, including books, crafts, theater, and shopping for new purses.
She was an extremely kind and giving person, often donating to people and charities; her favorite being Allied Attic in Enfield, CT. Her courage and strength in life were unmatched. Barbara leaves behind many cherished memories in our hearts.
