Obituary for Betty Anne Zeytoonjian (Fetler)

Beloved Betty Anne Zeytoonjian, born in Boston Massachusetts on January 27th, 1939 went home to God on January 29th at the age of 82 in Farmington, Connecticut. She was daughter of Carl & Helen Fetler and was of Swedish and Latvian decent. She attended Boston Teachers College and after graduating she taught elementary school in the City of Boston public schools where she would say “I had 50 students in my class and only 49 desks”. As a beautiful, intelligent, strong and adventurous woman she never let obstacles get in her way and took life’s opportunities and challenges head on. On December 15, 1963 she married Fred Zeytoonjian, her husband to be for 50 years. They lived in the suburbs of Boston for several years before, in 1970 she, her husband, and three young boys moved to Somers, CT for a business opportunity in Connecticut. In the early years of the startup business, she worked in the business wearing many hats in sales and administration, all the while raising three sons. She lived in Somers, CT for most of her life. She loved to travel and visited many dozens of countries through-out most of the World’s continents. She loved to meet other people of the world and experience their traditions and cultures. She visited the Out Islands of the Bahamas in the early 1980’s and instantly fell in love with its natural beauty, warm weather and most of all happy and cheerful people. She loved it so much so, that after her children were off to college and the business was established and growing, she spent much of her time in the Out Islands of the Bahamas. She loved the Bahamian people and they her and was lovingly referred to as “Mrs. Betty”. She was always a strong believer in the power of education and how it could positively affect a child’s trajectory in life. She felt that she could personally make an impact on the lives of young Bahamian children. So, in her free time, she dedicated her time and resources to help educate Bahamian children, and became a voluntary elementary English teacher in a small nearby Bahamian settlement. She was a fun loving and happy person and like to the say “enjoy yourself, its later than you think”. She had a wonderful life surrounded by love, sunshine, warmth and happiness. She was loved by so may for her fun and generous personality and she will be dearly missed by her sons, Mark, Doug and Fred, Jr., daughters-in-law, Kellie, Kim and Karen and her grandchildren, Finley, Hunter, Mackenzie, Alexandria, Forester, and Anton, as well as, her dearest close friends Jim and Gail Viola. We will all see you again someday soon Mrs. Betty “somewhere over the rainbow, where the bluebirds fly”.
