Obituary for Clayton R. Mack

Clayton R. “Mackey” Mack June 19, 1957 to April 8, 2021. Mackey passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 after a long battle with COVID. He is survived by his mother, Harriet Butler, sister, Carol Apostlico, brother, Jimmy Mack, nephews, Levi Apostolico, Cody Apostolico, Jimmy, Jimmy, II, Joshua, Nicholas, neices Kelly and Misty, and was predeceased by his sisters, Patsy Russell and Luella Mascotti, and his nephew, Nicholas Russell. When thinking of what to write for Mackey’s obituary, the thought came to me…what would he write “I lived, I died. Bye.” He was not a man of many words. Mackey was very proud of his Native American heritage. When able, he attended Pow-Wow’s in upstate New York, always bringing back gifts for his “girls.” He also served in the Army. If you were able to get a full sentence out of him about his service, you should feel blessed as you are in a very rare and elite club. He loved helping his “girls” at Jimmy’s Pub, getting their ice, taking trash out, vacuuming. It was his passtime. He loved animals and had a special connection with them. He is sorely missed by his friend Chopper (don’t worry buddy, the rest of us will give you cookies). There are too many friends of his to list here. To name one or more would be an injustice to the masses that loved and cared about him. You all know who you are. His exterior was very rough and gruff, but that was a lie. His heart was huge and he helped anyone who asked, and even when they didn’t. There will be no calling hours or funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life in the summer where we can all share Memories of Mackey. I could fill pages, as I am sure you could too, with funny Mackey Stories. But let’s save those for the Celebration.
