Obituary for Constance P. Lamond (Pray)

Constance P. Lamond (The Queen…) entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 31st when she passed peacefully at home comforted by family and friends. Born in Quincy Mass on November 18, 1932 Connie was a graduate of North Quincy High School in 1950. She married her beloved husband Jim in January 1954 and has enjoyed a true partnership for 68 years. Once Jim and Connie settled in the Enfield area in 1955, Connie gave birth to sons Robert, Steve, and Mark. All were baptized and raised as part of the United Methodist Church of Enfield where Connie and Jim have been members for over 65 years. In addition to raising the boys Connie was always a very active church member including as a member of the Choir, Choir director, pianist, and willing participant on various outreach committees, leadership committees, bible study, etc. As the boys grew older Connie went to work as a bookkeeper and provided clerical support for the Shepard Nuway Company in South Windsor, Ct. In 1980, Connie and Jim relocated to Scotland, UK in support of Jim’s work. While in Scotland Connie added the title of “Artist” to the long list of accomplishments she has achieved throughout her long and rich life. Her art work now graces the walls of many homes of fellow parishioners, family, and friends. On return from Scotland, Connie was brought “out of retirement” to serve as bookkeeper for the family business run at the time by Jim and son Steve. She finally retired for good a few years later and enjoyed many years filled with travel and other activities with Jim, kids, grandkids, and her extended church family. In addition to being remembered for all that she did, all will remember the “Queen” for her gracious, loving, giving, and distinguished persona along with a hard to resist wit and charm. Connie leaves her constant companion, caretaker and best friend Husband Jim, Son Steve and partner Jill, Grandsons Patrick and Kyle, and Granddaughters Jennifer and Lindsey. Connie was pre-deceased by Son Bob, Son Mark, Grandson Craig, Brother Donald, Sister Barbara, Father Bill, Mother Helen, Niece Linda, Nephew Bruce, Sister-in-Law Edie, and Sister-in-Law Helen. The family is planning calling hours from 5-7 at the Browne Funeral Home 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT on the evening of September 13th followed by services at the United Methodist Church of Enfield (UMCE) on September 14th at 10:00 a.m. followed burial at Enfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family wishes all donations be made directly to the UMCE.
