Obituary for Daniel J. Broderick, Jr.

Daniel J. Broderick, 78, entered into eternal rest on December 16, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. He died following complications due to the Covid 19 virus. Born in Hartford, son of the late Daniel and Doris (Marceau) Broderick, he was a lifelong resident of Enfield and a 1962 graduate of Enfield High School and Samuel I. Ward Technical College of the University of Hartford. Daniel was a retired electrical engineer for Combustion Engineering, retiring after twenty-five years and for three years he had his own company, Dan's Electronics Repair which specialized in analog electronics. He was a devoted husband and father. Daniel instilled a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility into his children. He enjoyed traveling to Italy, the Bahamas, Aruba and other places in his life. Daniel, or “Poppy” as he was affectionately known, was a hobby builder. He loved his tractor and used it to reshape his property. He built furniture, rebuilt cars, tractors, worked on electronics, built his barn, and actively cleared his property to build another house. He was active in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He loved the holidays and the time he spent with his family. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Society, Dan’s Tractor Club, the Enfield Lodge of Elks and a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of fifty-two years, Anna E. (Bonito) Broderick. He leaves his children, Elisa and her husband Steven Roy of Stafford, CT, Daniel J. Broderick, III and his wife, Cheryl (Ojantakanen) Broderick of Tolland, CT, and his grandchildren, Samantha Roy, Brody Roy, Daniel Broderick, IV, Tyler, Connor, Gavin, Luke and Alexis.
