Daniel Stephen Misuraca
Daniel Stephen Misuraca, Jr, 74. passed away on December 29, 2022. He was born September 6, 1948, born in Springfield, Mass. to Kathleen Ferguson and Daniel S. Misuraca and he has now joined them in Heaven.
A lot happened in those 74 years and many friends were made along the way. One of his first friends was his carriage buddy Bob Mankus. They rode side by side as their moms pushed them through the streets of Thompsonville. Pat Mahon, Will Moran and Mike Kennedy were all close friends and they navigated Enfield High together. Those that knew Steve knew he was rather slim. I could never understand that because every Wednesday when spaghetti was served at Enfield High, he always had the lunch plus an extra bowl or two. I still remember him walking up the drive in the back of the school with those orange socks.
Steve was very active for many years with Wishes Come True Organization to fulfill the dreams of children with life threatening illnesses and helped many. Steve was also an avid member of the West Springfield Fish and Game Club in Agawam. Please take a minute to remember your favorite time with Steve.
Steve was an only child and grandchild and was predeceased by his Mom Kathleen, as well as his Grandparents Florence (White) and Stanton Ferguson; he was their greatest joy. Steve's Father, Daniel S. Misuraca, passed February 1, 1984 and Steve always kept a Memorial Card in his wallet from his Dad's Funeral as a remembrance. Stephen leaves his Goddaughter and niece Dr. Michelle Kusaila, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve was formerly married to Jayne “Dee Dee” Chillson. She and the entire Chillson Family have always loved and cared deeply for Stephen. A special thank you to Mike Kennedy for the advocacy and support he gave to Steve during the last couple years.
One of his famous traits was starting numerous stories… but never quite finishing them. We all know why he did that. It was so we could join him one day to hear the end of each story. It will take a long time, but we all look forward to spending that time together with the brother we loved. Steve spent his final days at The Soldier On Facility in Feeding Hills, MA and then under excellent care at Genesis Heritage Hall, and New England Hospice. So, to coin a few of his favorites sayings, “Okie Dokie” and “later gator”, “Happy Trails”
