ENFIELD – Douglas G. Oakes, 72, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Washington, DC, son of the late Graham and Norma (Faurot) Oakes, he lived in Enfield for over forty years. Douglas worked for area Bedding Barns for over twenty years. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving as chair of the board of trustees. Douglas was a member of the Gideon Club, a 33rd Degree Mason with the Enfield Lodge of Masons and a member of the Scottish Rite. He loved spending time with his family. He leaves his wife of thirty-seven years, Karen (Peterson) Oakes, two sons, Peter D. Oakes of Enfield, William J. Oakes of Silver Springs, MD, a brother, Donald F. Oakes of North Carolina and nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be Monday, February 22, 2021 at 1pm at the Enfield Street Cemetery.
