Edward A. Carnelli Jr., 66, of Vernon, CT departed this life to join his parents in heaven on Feb. 10, 2023 after a difficult battle with leukemia. Ed was born April 20, 1956 to Edward (Whitey) Carnelli Sr., and Delores (Mary) Carnelli. Raised in Manchester, Ed graduated from Manchester High and Porter and Chester Institute. He leaves his beloved wife, Donna J. Carnelli, his sisters, Lynne Gola and her husband, Greg, and Donna Carnelli, of Florida, Heather Sharp of Vernon, his stepmother, Diane Carnelli of Glastonbury, his aunt Elizabeth Kenyon of Ellington, brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Donna Chamberlain of Suffield, and several nieces and nephews.
Ed was a quiet man with a kind, loving heart and razor-sharp wit. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Ed,” to the children in the family. Music was one of Ed’s passions. He sang and played guitar in several local bands throughout his life. Ed had an adventurous spirit. He loved hang gliding, jet skiing, and NASCAR racing.
Ed worked at Pratt & Whitney early in his career. He later opened his own home remodeling business, Mid State Home Improvement. Ed never needed to a hire a repairman because he could fix anything.
Relatives and friends may gather with Ed’s family on Wed., Feb. 15 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels of Enfield, with a procession forming at the funeral home at 9:30 am to St. Patrick Church, Enfield a for a Mass of Christian burial to begin at 12:00 (noon) on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Burial will take place in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery, Enfield on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
