Obituary for Frances J. "Fran" O'Brien (Breslin)

Frances J O’Brien, 84, of Enfield, loving wife of the late William O’Brien, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Fran was born to Denis and Jean Breslin on February 6, 1938 in Flushing NY. She started her career in nursing after graduating from St. Catherine's Nursing school in 1958, working for Booth Memorial, Whitestone Hospital and Griffin Memorial before taking time off to raise her children. Later in life, she worked with Small Christian Communities for 15 years before retiring and also volunteered at St. Joseph’s Residence. It was in 1960 at Whitestone Hospital as a nurse for her soon to be father-in-law, that Fran met the love of her life, Bill. They were married in 1961 and shortly thereafter moved to Seymour CT and in 1968 settled in Enfield. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. It hard to think of Fran without Bill, with whom she was married for 53 years. They hosted CYO for Holy Family in their house for years. They both participated in Cursillo and Marriage Encounter which deepened their faith and love that they shared with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Fran was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her son Jamie, her parents, and her brother Denis. She is survived by her sister, Mary Hunter, son, John and his wife Sandy, daughters Jennifer and Laura O’Brien. She also has five grandchildren, Michael, Daniellle, Willi, Connor and Kiley as well as 8 great grandkids.
A special thanks to Eagle’s Point and the Suffield House for their six years of devoted care and compassion for Fran.
Relatives and friends may join her family on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Fran on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish) 23 Simon Rd. Enfield, CT. Interment will then follow in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery, in Enfield.
