Francis Michael Arena, 89 of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 16, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Carol R. (Duffy) Arena. Born on January 24, 1934 in Waterbury, CT, a son of the late Frank & Irene (DeLorge) Arena. He was a graduate of Wilby H.S., Waterbury and resided in Enfield for 40 years and in Windsor Locks before that. Francis served our country proudly with the U.S. Army from ’56 to ’58, and was a member of the AMVETS Post 18, Enfield. Prior to retiring in 1998 he was employed for 10 years as a maintenance tech. with Genesis Healthcare at Windsor Hall Nursing Home. Francis was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing. He was a parishioner of St. Martha Parish, Enfield. Francis is survived by four children; Andrew T. Sterchak of Southwick, MA, Edward P. & Susan Sterchak of Southwick, MA, Loralyn and Daniel Ballou of Enfield, CT and Rita & Sam Hurley of MA, his beloved grandchildren; Ryan Hill, Thomas Pragluski, Sara & Brian Walsh, Michael & Danielle Pragluski, Sydney Ballou and Avery Ballou. He is also survived by his siblings; Barbara Arena of Westfield, MA, Peter Petrillo of CT and Barbara & Michael Solla of CT, as well as nieces and nephews; Kim & Frank Zaine, Penny Arena & Ken, Thomas & Cindy Arena, and Michael Arena, and cousins. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother Thomas Arena and wife Shirley. Relatives and friends may gather with his family on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 9 to 10:30 am followed by a Prayer Service. Interment will then take place in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery, Enfield with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Martha Parish, 214 Brainard Rd.
