Obituary for Gregory Michael Orton

Gregory M Orton, 34, of Enfield, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday February 10, 2019. He was born December 6, 1984, the son of Michele DiMattia and Donald Orton. Greg attended Enfield schools and graduated from Enfield High School in 2003. During his teenage years Greg was an avid skateboarder, he attended Woodward Skate Camp and advocated for skate parks to be opened in Enfield to allow others the opportunity to skate. After high school, Greg followed his passion for cooking and attended culinary school at Connecticut Culinary Institute in Suffield, CT.
After culinary school, Greg followed his next passion to be a solider in the United States Army. Greg completed basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina in 2007. He then went on to complete more extensive training at Camp Pendleton in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Due to a medical condition, Greg had to leave the army. When he returned home, Greg returned to his passion for cooking and worked in several restaurants throughout CT. At this time, Greg also revisited his love for drawing and perfected his talents. Greg shared his talents with family and friends and created many artistic pieces. Greg enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and being outdoors.
During the past few years, Greg found yet another passion, which was exercising/ working out and being healthy. Greg decided to further this passion into a career and completed a certificate program to become a Personal Trainer. Greg was excited to share his new-found knowledge with anyone who was interested in exercising and becoming a healthier version of themselves. Greg truly loved life and enjoyed being there for other people, he had a big heart and anyone who knew Greg knew this was true.
Greg is survived by his parents, Michele DiMattia of Enfield, Donald Orton of Windsor Locks and his step-father Leon Kroczewski of Enfield, his brother David Orton and his wife Antionette Orton of Enfield, his sister Amanda Berezin and husband Jake Berezin of Easthampton, Ma, his sister Keli Kroczewski and partner Joe Procopio of East Windsor, and his brother Matthew Orton of Agawam, Ma. He also leaves his grandparents, Virginia DiMattia of Enfield, Gerald and Irene DiMattia of Enfield. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Michael, Mason Mackenzie, Arianna, and Alyssa and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind many close and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held, Tuesday February 19, 2019 from 4pm- 7pm followed by a Memorial Service with Pastor Barry Andrusik officiating at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
