Obituary for Henrietta Amelia Trapanese
Henrietta Amelia (Morehouse) Trapanese, 100 of Enfield, CT. passed away peacefully at home into eternal life on July 24, 2021. Henrietta (Henny as she was known to many), was born on December 7, 1920 in Granby CT to the late Albert and Eliza Jane Morehouse. Henny moved to Enfield at the age of 19 where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Trapanese, her beloved husband of 60 years who pre-deceased her in 2000.
Henny is survived by two loving daughters, Joan, who was devoted to Henny’s daily needs and Elizabeth and her husband Gerald Patria of Southwick, MA.
Henny was the last of her relatives, and was pre-deceased by her siblings Ina Flanagan, Alberta Jablonski, Francis Morehouse and Edward Morehouse as well as a special niece, Nancy Albert and a Godson Paul Jablonski. In addition, Henny was pre-deceased by her in-laws, Charles and Jennie Trapanese, and sisters and brothers-in-law Florence Trapanese, Charles Trapanese, Humbert Trapanese and his wife Norma, Samuel Trapanese and his wife Nancy, Mary Arnold Trapanese and Eleanor and Rudy Chamberlain. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews as well as special cousins, Frances and Alphonse Reale.
Henrietta was an amazing woman whose faith, family and friends were important to her. She said her rosaries each day and was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick Church in Enfield, CT. Henny was remarkable even as her body grew frail and tired. Her mind was sharp and worried about getting cards and letters out to celebrate everyone’s special events in life. Life was far from easy growing up, but Henny loved people and after spanning ten decades, she had many stories to share. She saw so many changes in her life, yet the one thing that didn’t change was her personality. She was unselfish and dedicated to family and friends whether it was cooking, sewing, cleaning or taking care of sick family members. She loved her trips to Saratoga, NY., the casino and especially any ride for ice cream. She valued learning and was a great student, super-speller and was Salutatorian of her 8th grade class. Having to quit school when her mom died at an early age, Henny went on to become a wealth of knowledge by reading. She was chosen as the 2018 Journal Inquirer’s oldest Reader Recognition Award. Henny taught us life’s lessons each day with her simple acts of kindness.
Henny’s family would like to thank Dr. Parikh and his nurse Vanessa as well as her hospice VNA nurse, Eileen and caretakers Elizabeth and Sue. A special thank you goes out to Father Anthony Bruno, family priest and friend, for his spiritual support for many decades.
Funeral service in celebration of Henny’s life will be held at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. with calling hours from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 29, 2021 with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield, CT.
