Obituary for James P. Nelson

James "Jim" P. Nelson

On Saturday, September 17, 2022, Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. A lifelong resident of Enfield, he was the second son of the late John and Lillian (Trombley) Nelson. He was a graduate of Fermi High School and continued his college education at Asnuntuck College and Central Connecticut State University. He was employed by Hallmark Cards for many years. He then left to open several businesses in the Enfield area including Enviro Heat Inc, Creative Image Productions, and was a co-owner of My Pellet Store. He was an active and beloved member of Riley's School of Dance where he was fondly known to all as "The Voice".
Jim was predeceased by his parents and older brother Jack Nelson. Jim leaves behind his sweetheart; loving and devoted wife, Pam (Gonyea) Nelson and fur baby Skittles. He is also survived by his mother and father in-law, Barbara and Richard Gonyea, sister in-law Gwen (Gonyea) Kelly, and her husband Tom. In addition, he leaves behind his sister in-law Peg (Folan) Devlin and his beloved nieces and nephew; Kim (Nelson) Harrington, Jack Nelson and Samantha Kelly. Jim will also be fondly missed by his dance family at Riley's School of Dance.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, September 21 at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels on Shaker Rd. in Enfield CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish) on Thursday the 22nd 2022 at 10:30am. (Please go directly to Church). Please come casually dressed to celebrate the well lived life of our beloved Jim. Interment will be at the convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Marion Walsh Riley Performing Arts Scholarship at 11 Deerfield Cir. Enfield, CT.
