John R. Berube, Sr., 77, of Greensboro, NC and formerly of Enfield, CT, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 21, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Katherine A. (Pound) Berube. Born on May 3, 1946, son of the late Herman P. Berube and Adrinne (Nadeau) Warters. John was retired from his own business and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a lifelong love of music and playing the guitar for family, friends and at church. He was an active participant in his church serving as a leader of the folk group, CCD educator, Eucharistic Minister, member of the parish council and small Chistian Communities throughout the years. John was a member of Masons, Optimist’s Club of Baldwinsville, NY.
In addition of his loving wife Katherine, he is survived by his four children: Michelle Joyce & husband Robert S. of Coventry, Jacqueline Diemand & husband Thomas of Holyoke, MA, Suzanne Cromer & husband John, Sr. of Mooresville, NC, and John R. Berube, Jr of Enfield, his beloved grandchildren: Andrew & April Berube, Robert J. & Nicole Joyce, Ivy Berube, Nicholas Cromer, John Cromer, Jr, Erin &Walther Mendez, and his cherished great grandchildren: Robert H. Joyce and Manny Mendez. He is also survived by his siblings: Peter Berube, Sr. of Enfield, Eileen & David Needham of Murfreesboro, TN, Kenneth & Jamie Berube of Enfield, Maryann & Donald Robinson of Murfreesboro, TN, and Diane & Steve Ryan of Enfield, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Paul Berube.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family on Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Bernard Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish) Enfield. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Suffield, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial donation should be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Crew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
