Obituary for John P. DuBois

John P. DuBois, 93 of Enfield, CT, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, May 21, 2023. John was the eldest of three children born to Antoine & Genevieve DuBois in Biddeford, Maine, January 25, 1930. He grew up spending summers in Island Pond VT and lived in many New England towns in his youth. Always actively involved in sports, John (Lefty) played basketball, softball, golf and any other sport he could participate in. After finishing high school, at Mount St. Charles Academy, in Woonsocket, RI. John joined the Air Force and spent time overseas in France, Germany and Saudi Arabia. Upon returning from serving his country he met and married Marie G. Distasio with whom he spent many years with, raising a family in Enfield, CT. John completed an Engineering degree from Western New England University and worked most of his life for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He late married Eileen Kinney and lived a very full and happy life sharing many interests, including music, travel & especially religion. Active members of Holy Family Parish for most of their lives, they participated in many committees, functions as well as singing in the choir together.
John is survived by his sister Lucille Rouke of Dartmouth, MA. His children John C. DuBois and wife Theresa DuBois, and Michael L. DuBois. John also leaves behind two grandchildren Adam DuBois and wife Angela, and Kyle DuBois. His three step-children Patrick Kinney, III and wife Elizabeth, Brian Kinney and wife Nancy, Kathleen Kinney and husband Laird. As well as 7 step-grandchildren Jake, Nicholas, and Daniel Kinney, Julia and Eric Landman, Anna and Thomas Kinney.

Relatives and friends of John are welcome to join his family in a celebration of life with a visitation period at Browne Memorial Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for John on Friday, June 2, at 11:00 am in Holy Family Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish) 23 Simon Rd. Enfield, CT. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
